🐹 About Puff & Whisker

​

As a child, I was told a hamster was a “starter pet.”

A small colourful cage, basic food, and wood shavings were said to be “all I need.”

Looking back, my hamster may have survived—but he didn’t truly live.

I wish I could go back and tell that little girl:

pet ownership requires time, effort, and the means to provide proper care.

Years later, I was ready to take on that responsibility,

and we joined the hamster community in search of a companion.

We were surprised by how many products were available—but also how confusing it was.

What’s safe? What’s actually suitable?

And what truly makes a difference?

​

We started trying and testing different products,

observing our hamsters’ routines, and continuously researching hamster care.

Along the way, we met so many like-minded people.

Hundred Acre Hamster Rescue was one of the first to guide us on this journey.

We’ve learned so much from them and truly admire the work they do

—such a supportive and lovely community.

This whole experience led to one simple idea:

what if there was a shop where you could easily find a wide range of safe, suitable hamster products

—all in one place?

 

That’s where Puff & Whisker began.

All of our products are carefully selected.

We focus on safe materials, proper sizing, and enrichment that supports natural behaviours.

If it’s not something we’d happily give to our own hamsters, we won’t sell it.

We’re also proud to support local rescues as part of our journey.
